FEM SUPPER CLUB
Gather. Feast. Rise.
An Autumn Gathering of Food, Stories & Connection
26 October • Graft • Derry
There is a lot for women to carry right now.
The responsibilities. The expectations. The roles we play. The things happening in our own lives and the weight of the world around us.
Sometimes we don't need more advice about what we should be doing to feel well.
Sometimes we need somewhere to simply be.
To sit around a table with other women.
To eat really good food.
To talk, listen and laugh.
To hear stories and perspectives that make us think.
And to remember that we don't have to carry everything alone.
This October, FEM returns to Graft for something a little different.
Welcome to the first FEM Supper Club.
An intimate autumn evening centred around beautiful food, meaningful conversation, stories and the simple magic that happens when women gather.
Gather.
We'll begin as we always do at FEM, with time.
Time to arrive. To get something warming in your hands. To settle into the space and meet the women around you.
There is no rushing through the connection to get to the "main event".
The gathering is the main event.
Throughout the evening there will be gentle invitations into meaningful conversation, inspiring words and stories shared around the room, and plenty of space for the conversations to unfold naturally.
You don't have to share anything you don't want to.
You can talk. You can listen. You can laugh.
You can simply come as you are.
In fact, that's your first invitation:
Leave your labels at the door.
For a couple of hours, you don't need to be the professional, the mother, the daughter, the partner, the business owner, the carer, the woman who has it all together or the woman who is still figuring things out.
Take your seat as you.
Feast.
Food has always been at the heart of FEM.
Yes, because I'm a nutritionist and believe deeply in nourishing our bodies.
But also because food is about so much more than nutrients.
We break bread together.
We cook for people we love.
We gather around food.
Flavours and smells become memories, and some of life's best conversations happen while passing food around a table.
For our first Supper Club, I'll be creating a beautiful autumn-inspired spread designed to be shared and enjoyed slowly.
Expect warming seasonal soup with fresh bread, mouth watering sharing platters, comforting drinks and something sweet to finish.
Nourishing food that also feels like a treat.
Come hungry.
We'll feed you.
Rise.
This part doesn't need to be big or profound.
You might hear something another woman says that stays with you.
You might discover that somebody else has been navigating something you've been quietly carrying yourself.
You might meet someone you would never otherwise have crossed paths with.
You might laugh until your cheeks hurt.
Or you might simply leave feeling a little lighter than when you arrived.
There will also be an invitation to bring something to the gathering if you'd like.
A few lines from a book.
A poem.
A piece of advice another woman once gave you.
Something you've written.
A story.
A thought you've been carrying.
Something that has helped you through a difficult season or changed the way you see things.
You absolutely don't have to bring or share anything.
But there will be space around our table for the wisdom, stories and experiences already within the room.
Because sometimes the person who gives you exactly the words you needed to hear is sitting right beside you.
Coming alone?
Please do.
Women come to FEM alone all the time.
We know walking into a room where you don't know anybody can feel nerve-wracking, so our gatherings are intentionally created to make those first few minutes easier.
You'll be welcomed at the door, given time to settle in and naturally introduced to the women around you.
We've watched strangers sit down beside each other at FEM and, before long, talk as though they've known each other for years.
You won't be the only one arriving alone.
Your invitation
As we move deeper into autumn and towards the quieter months of the year, come and spend an evening around the table with us.
No packed agenda.
No pressure to perform.
No list of things you need to fix about yourself.
Just beautiful food, stories, warmth, laughter and meaningful connection with other women.
